Kyle Lefkoff is a Founder and General Partner of Boulder Ventures Ltd. In his thirty-year career as a venture capitalist, Mr. Lefkoff has invested in 57 Colorado companies, resulting in fourteen IPOs and sixteen trade sales.
Mr. Lefkoff’s representative life science investments include Hauser Chemical Research (NASDAQ: HAUS); NeXstar Pharmaceuticals (sold to Gilead Sciences), Array BioPharma (NASDAQ: ARRY), Dharmacon (sold to Fisher Scientific), Genomica (sold to Exelixis), ARCA Biopharma (NASDAQ: ABIO), and miRagen Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MGEN).
Representative information technology investments include McData (sold to EMC); Atlantes Corp. (sold to Metromail); Compatible Systems Corp. (sold to Cisco Systems); Wall Street on Demand (sold to Goldman Sachs), Lefthand Networks (sold to HP), LineRate Systems (sold to F5), CommercialTribe and Market Force Information.
Representative natural foods retailing investments include Horizon Organic Dairy (sold to Dean Foods); Alfalfa’s Markets (sold to Wild Oats); and Fresh & Wild PLC (sold to Whole Foods).
Mr. Lefkoff is the Chairman of the Board of Array BioPharma (NASDAQ: ARRY). He is a Director of Black Bear Energy, CommercialTribe, miRagen Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MGEN), and Market Force.
Mr. Lefkoff is a Founder and Director of University License Equity Holding Inc. (ULEHI), which manages the spin-off portfolio at CU, and an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business.
Mr. Lefkoff received his B.A. in Economics from Vassar College (summa cum laude) in 1981. In 1980, Mr. Lefkoff completed a Fellowship in Economic History at the London School of Economics. In 1985, he completed his MBA in Finance at the University of Chicago.
Mr. Lefkoff is an experienced alpinist and mountain guide, with difficult ascents to his credit in the French Alps, Peruvian Andes, and the major ranges of North America. He was a member of the 1986 American Expedition to the North Face of K2. Mr. Lefkoff is a Lifetime Member and former Director of the American Mountain Guides Association, and a former Director of The Access Fund, a national climbing advocacy organization.
Mr. Lefkoff is the Chairman of the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE), the avalanche education standard among mountain guides and snow professionals in the USA.
Mr. Roshko has over thirty-one years of venture capital and investing expertise focused on early stage information technology companies. He currently serves on the boards of Closetbox, Inc, Datavail Corporation, Rapt Media, Inc, SyncHR, Inc, and Trust Company of America.
Prior to joining Boulder Ventures in late 1998, Mr. Roshko ran a technology hedge fund, Granite Investments, which focused on fundamental analysis and a value oriented approach to public market technology investing.
Beginning in 1984, Mr. Roshko was a General Partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures (MDV) where he concentrated in software, medical devices and services. His successful investments at MDV included: Albion Instruments, Inc. (sold to BOC/OHMEDA), Elsewhere Corporation (sold to Hewlett Packard), Prism Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRZM), and Tigon Corporation (sold to Ameritech).
Mr. Roshko was a Board member of Vantive Corporation for 9 years from its founding through its IPO and subsequent sale to PeopleSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSFT). He was a Board Member of Rally Software Development, Corp. for 10 years from its founding to its IPO in 2013 (NYSE: RALY) and BroadHop, Inc. until it was sold to Cisco Systems, Inc. in 2013 (NASDAQ: CSCO).
Mr. Roshko has been an individual investor in other successful startups including Form Factor, Inc. (NASDAQ: FORM) and the Ensign Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENSG).
Prior to joining MDV, Mr. Roshko was a Senior Consultant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in San Francisco where he planned, designed and implemented management information systems for a variety of client engagements.
Mr. Roshko holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (1984) and a BS (cum laude) in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University (1980).
Jonathan Perl joined Boulder Ventures in 2002 and has over 18 years of venture capital experience focused exclusively on early-stage information technology companies. Mr. Perl currently sits on the boards of Zenoss, SurfWatchLabs, Terrago Technologies, eMinor, and FlyByMedia. In addition, he is a board observer at Clarabridge and MediaMath.
Mr. Perl also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association.
Representative recent past investments include iLumin Software Services, Inc (sold to Computer Associates), ERA Corporation (sold to SRA International), Metron Aviation, Inc. (sold to Airbus), and RedCloud Security, Inc. (sold to Avigilon).
Prior to Boulder Ventures, Mr. Perl joined Intersouth Partners in 1997 as a member of the third class of Kaufman Fellows and in 1999 became a Partner. He was responsible for the sourcing, due diligence, structuring and negotiation of more than a dozen early stage investments, including several highly successful companies. He led Intersouth’s investments in InvoiceLink Corporation (sold to BCE Emergis) and Extensibility, Inc. (sold to TIBCO Software).
Mr. Perl is a part board member of the North Carolina Council for Entrepreneurial Development and served on the executive committee of the Board of Trustees and was Treasurer of National Child Research Center, a preschool in Washington, DC, from 2008-2012.
Mr. Perl holds an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College (1997) and a BA (magna cum laude) in classical history from Tufts University (1988).
